a glistening hint of mediterranean haze,
cobbled streets and shuttered windows,
all thrown wide for springs embrace,
girls and boys dance by the pavement.
a light breeze cools a sunshine glaze,
tree lined streets, swaying leaves,
open jackets perched on shoulders,
love skin; lapels and buttons wide, open.
tinted stone and rainbow buildings
pink and terracotta, their artist willing,
ageing pride from architects' putty,
waves lap shores and sandy beaches.
light blue painting an unravelled sky,
radiating smiles by whitewashed walls,
of balconies and peeling plaster,
bathed in right, no rain to answer.
silken face in outward gaze,
foreign eyes, absorbing, chase
hidden meanings, clues to this bliss,
pausing days that passed oh too quick.
