Rose tinted spectacles

It's so easy to make statements about being open eyed and seeing things the way they are, yet actually, surprisingly, really hard to abide by them.

I keep thinking about friends giving a person advice - if that person doesn't want to hear what they are saying, it will fall on deaf ears. Is it a deeply seated thing in human nature that we need to make the discoveries ourselves.....we need to make the mistake, we need to see the truth before we accept it. How can it be that we don't notice ourselves becoming shrouded?

Maybe its just hard to get perspective when you're thinking, feeling in the middle of something. We struggle to see a situation how it actually is twofold; if we are angry and upset, we just can't be positive. If we're happy and elated, we won't see anything that's not ideal.

Maybe optimism and pessimism aren't what we should try for, but rather realism - a kind of medium. Today I chose to see many things in a better light; I put on a pink shirt, walked outside and sang 'Sunday Morning' by Maroon 5. It didn't make everything better, but it made it ok.
